Most of us would love to enjoy a relaxing spa treatment from time to time, but often our busy lives mean we struggle to find time for ourselves to indulge. Well, the Ocius Treatment Rooms at the five star Celtic Manor Resort, Newport seems to offer the perfect solution, with their range of express treatments. The Ocius spa is one of two spas at The Celtic Manor and is located in The Celtic Manor Golf Club, alongside Dylans Health and Fitness Club at the resort.
The express treatment menu includes everything from booster facials to massage and manicure and pedicures, all under 25 minutes long. I was invited along for a very relaxing afternoon, to try both an express massage* and booster facial* for myself at the new look Ocius spa.
The moment I arrived at the Ocius spa, I was made to feel welcome. After a brief introduction, I was ushered into the chic relaxation rooms to fill in the required forms and write down what I wanted to get out of my treatments that day. I wrote down my wish to be relaxed and de-stressed and then the friendly therapist, Suki took me to the treatment room to begin my hour of relaxation!
The treatment room was simple and serene and even though I was there to experience the express treatments, I didn’t feel at all rushed and I was left to prepare for my treatments at my own pace. The Ocius Treatment Rooms uses the luxury Elemis spa brand for its treatments so you know you’re always being pampered with high quality products.
When I was ready, my therapist, Suki began my first treatment, the signature back, neck and shoulder massage. She started the treatment by asking what pressure I would like used for the massage, hard, medium or soft. She then massaged warm Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil into my back, neck and shoulders with the medium pressure I had requested. Already by this point, I felt extremely relaxed, with the calming music and candles burning in the background giving the perfect accompaniment. My back, neck and shoulders were then massaged with a refreshing gel and massage oil to work any stress away and relieve tired muscles. Throughout the massage, Suki was releasing a build up of lactic acid in my back which can build up in the muscles from the stress of everyday life. So not only was my massage blissfully relaxing, it was soothing and releasing tension from my muscles at the same time. My 25 minute massage was so relaxing I didn’t want it to end, although I was definitely looking forward to my next treatment, the Ocius signature booster facial.
I was particularly excited for my facial, because my skin was definitely in need of some expert tlc. Although I don’t suffer from severe acne, I do occasionally experience breakouts. Before the treatments, I had discussed my skin type and problems with Suki and like every personalised step of my treatments, she carefully selected facial products especially for sensitive skin to help solve my concerns.
Suki started the facial with a deep cleanse using the Elemis Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser to remove any makeup and dirt from my skin and pores. At every step she removed the product with a relaxing hot towel before moving on to the next part of the treatment. After the cleanser, the Soothing Apricot Toner was then used on my skin. This had a delightful scent and is especially gentle for sensitive skin. I loved the refreshing but calming feel of the toner on the areas of my skin where I had some acne flare ups and it seemed a great product for delicate skin. The toner was followed with a lovely papaya scented peel and a lavender mask was then applied to my face.
While the mask was working its magic, oil was massaged into my shoulders, neck and scalp which left me feeling even more relaxed. Suki then removed the mask and massaged Elemis Cellular Recovery Capsules into my skin, which had the most delicious rose scent. Suki said the capsules would work especially well at bringing out the under the painful skin spots I sometimes experience. The last step of my facial was focused on the eye area and the Elemis Visible Brilliance product was gently massaged under my eyes, which helps to relieve tired eyes and reduce dark circles. My facial was as relaxing as my massage and my skin felt glowing and soothed by the end of my treatment.
Both of my treatments took less than half an hour each, but I still felt extremely relaxed and that I had been thoroughly pampered with some much needed me time. The express treatments had all the relaxing benefits of a visit to the spa in half the time. They are also less expensive than longer treatments if you would like to indulge for less. The signature back neck and shoulder massage at the Ocius spa costs £26 on Monday-Thursday and £32 Friday to Sunday, while the signature booster facial costs £22 on Monday to Thursday and £26 on Friday to Sunday. The express treatments would also be the ideal treat for a friend or relative in need of some relaxation! The Ocius Treatment Rooms sell a full range of Elemis products so if there were products you particularly loved during your treatment, you can also buy them at the spa.
